The diaphragm is a dome-shaped sheet of muscle that separates the thoracic cavity from the abdomen. It is the contraction and relaxation of this muscle that makes breathing possible. But what happens that causes it to get out of sync and we get the hiccups? Discuss what causes Hiccups if you get them.  Consider, how do we stop them?  Are they dangerous? Are there long term effects or diseases that can cause chronic hiccups?
