Please read the following two articles in The Economist online

1. Write a substantive paragraph of at least 6 sentences explaining how The Economist describes its editorial viewpoint. Is it left or right or both or neither or what? What do left and right mean to The Economist? In this context refer to the second article and address what The Economist means by true progressivism and how it fits into their view of themselves.

Now that you have had some experience reading The Economist for several weeks, write another paragraph commenting on whether you think The Economist’s description of itself is reasonably accurate and why.  Provide at least two examples from separate articles you have been assigned to read in The Economist over the last two or three issues that either support the position The Economist takes regarding itself or support your personal view of The Economist if it differs from theirs. Do not include any U.S. references or examples. Cite each article at the beginning of its example by mentioning the article title and date of the issue in which it was published.  Economist issues do not have titles (the headline on the cover is not a title); they can only be identified by their publication date. Once the article has been cited, write two or three sentences for each example about how it illustrates the point you are making. This is straightforward if you agree with The Economist’s view of itself. If, however, you are arguing against The Economist’s view of itself, at least one of your examples should positively support the view you take, but at least one other example should be a negative argument that discounts an example that might normally be construed as contrary to the position you are taking.
